5 Things Friday

10:46 AM

Literally, just five today!
Just keeping it short and sweet for you! Seems fitting, so I'm going with it...

1. State Fair - If you should be so lucky to have your State Fair in your city, then you know what I'm talking about. All things Carnie's and fried goodness attack you at some point during your trip! Luckily the #CAStateFair has it all - from Carnie headquarters (the Midway), to the ever so popular Hypnotist, to all things fried and unhealthy, to air conditioned buildings that are stalls on stalls of infomercials brought to life, to the secret wine garden, to all types of stinky animals for show! I mean, really, where else would you rather spend your evening? I know I love AND always have loved going to the fair. Most years, I go multiple times, this year only once. But we made sure to do all the "Musts" this year - bacon wrapped churro (bleck), the Ferris wheel (where's the big daddy at), and wine slushies. I would love to inundate you with pics, but I'm saving them for next weeks WIAW post...get ready :)

2. Groupon - I have been on a serious Groupon binge! It started with one to get my nails done last week and now I'm addicted. I convinced the Bestest that we needed to get one for wine tasting, then we asked all the girls to join us - so we now have a group of 6 that will be using one for an adventure of tasting, a tour, and two bottles from a local winery. More recently, I decided to buy two different Groupon's for local restaurants that I've been wanting to try - insta-Date-Nights! Sometimes I feel like I'm too good to buy a Groupon, then I remember I'm a baller-on-a-budget and I swoop one and am reminded how great they can be!

3. Social Media - Could you go one day, one week, one month without using any social media (blogging not included)? It started out as a bet with the Boy to see if he could go without his phone for 16 hours, which he did. But then we started discussing who uses their phone more and what would be a more significant bet. So, of course, social media usage came up. I'm not sure when said bet will occur, but at some point we will see who can go the longest without using social media. I love my accounts, but I think I also am stubborn enough to stay off of them longer...my integrity is on the line here ;)

4. Baptism Gifts - What to get the little Lovebug for his big day?! His parents aren't very religious, so things of that nature don't seem like they'd be a big hit. He is also a little older, than that I thought was the general time to baptize a child. So far, I have a book. I'd like to get him something functional, but I feel like clothes and toys aren't the right gift either. The Lovebug has plenty of both...so I'm stumped!

5. Thought Provoking - Have you ever read something that instantly struck a chord? I was perusing Pinterest, I can't believe I just admitted that, and saw this:

It made me think and remember, that I need remember to say my prayers at night. By no means am I a super spiritual person, but I'd like to be. I don't pray regularly, although I'd like too. It sounds awful, but most nights I just completely forget to. I feel guilty admitting this, but I tend to remember when something is bothering me or I just need some extra prayers or strength for whatever is going on. There are nights when this isn't the case, but more so than not! I can admit to always having gratitude on my mind, but thanking God for my blessings is something I should do more often.

Cheers to the freakin' weekend y'all!!

    1. Oh my goodness, the food hangover was real the next day :) Yes, it'll be interesting to take a break for a week. I need to follow suit and pray more. I have prayed during runs, also dedicated miles to friends and family - it really helps to get through the run! Have a great weekend and run happy! xoxo, ganeeban

  2. That quote is pretty deep! I do not think I could go one day without any social media. I would like to think I could but unfortunately I believe I would break, lol.

    1. I thought so too, I really liked it! I know, it's going to be a challenge, but I'm interested in trying it out. At least blogging isn't on the social media restrictions! I bet you could, it would be HARD for sure, but you could totally do it :) Hope your weekends is going well! xoxo, ganeeban
